James 1:19 “…Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry.” (GNT)
Father – Am I deluding myself? I am so quick to interject my thoughts and opinions into others’ lives. Is my “helping” attitude really one of control under the guise of goodness? Help Lord! May I really see what my motives are. The truth, please, even though it may hurt.
Child – My Word cautions you to be quick to hear and slow to speak. You have reversed that. You do not allow time for my Spirit to give you wisdom for the situation at hand. Yes, I’ve given you an analytical mind. You often do see possible solutions faster than others. But that ability does not give you the right to tell others how they should do something. Remember I am their teacher, too.
Ask Me to put a watch on your mouth. As you know, your words can be used to encourage or wound others. Your tongue must be given to Me. Unless I tell you to speak you should remain silent.
